A nice cup of tea always goes down a treat
Aromatic tea leaves travel a long way to eventually end up submerged in hot water in the teacup. Black tea is usually steeped for a shorter time, while green tea is usually left in the water for a longer time. But why is it so important to pay attention to this? If tea is left to steep for too long, tannin acid will leach out, which is not beneficial and also reduces the pleasure. The processing, or fermentation, of the tea leaves determines whether black, green or white tea is steaming in our teacup.
Start your mornings with steaming black tea
Tea drinking has its own national traditions, rituals which the English keep to religiously. Indulge yourself in English tea drinking habits at breakfast time or at five o'clock, or simply sip a cup of delicious black tea in good company!
Enjoy the benefits of green tea
The benefits of green tea are indisputable. Many people choose it for its digestive and detoxification benefits, as well as its antioxidant content. However, the recommended daily intake for green tea should be adhered to. Its caffeine content makes it invigorating and raises blood pressure, but in a different way to black tea. The stimulating effect of black tea can be felt quickly and strongly, while the invigorating effect of green tea is less strong, but extended and steady.
How to make green tea
Importantly, when making traditional green tea, the tea is not made using boiling water, but rather with water cooled back to 70 C°. If you are making loose leaf tea, place the tea leaves into a teapot and pour warm water over them. When calculating the quantity of tea leaves to the amount of water, the generally recommended ratio is 1 teaspoon of green tea per 2 dl of water.
Fruit in a teacup
Which is your favorite fruit tea? Fruits of the forest, strawberry or orange? Or do you prefer fruit blends? There is hardly a household without a box of their favourite fruit tea on the shelf for each member of the family. And rightly so. A hot, juicy fruit tea will bring back the flavours of summer even on the coldest days and children can enjoy it too. In summer, it is a very refreshing drink when served chilled. Surprise your family with new flavour combinations!
Make a classic ginger tea with honey and lemon
Fruit teas should be soaked for a longer period, usually 8-10 minutes, in hot water. It's worth keeping to the time limit, as, if it soaks for longer than that, the tea may become too acidic. Ginger lemon tea is also available in tea bag form and can be flavoured with honey. It's also a classic for colds. Big ginger fans can also grate fresh ginger into the tea to taste. Honey and ginger should be mixed into the tea once it has cooled slightly.
